We consider it a big success, and hope that those we helped felt as blessed as we did.
We appreciate all those that volunteered. We had Lullaby volunteers, LDS church members, Factory Motor Parts employees and many others there serving the ten thousand needy individuals in attendance. We were able to supply clothes, coloring books and toys to over 2000 of those attendees.
From the 14 pallets of of clothes and toys that were donated, and collected by The Lullaby Connection, we didn’t have to turn anyone away. Each and every person that came left with something.
All of us at The Lullaby Connection hope that we handed out more than just clothes that day, we hope that we were able to touch lives for the good. We know that each time we give of ourselves, our lives are the ones that are touched and we are grateful for the opportunity to serve.
Thanks again to all that helped us make this year’s Thanksgiving holiday event a success.
If you would like to help volunteer, please read more about us.
Many, Many Thanks to the Lullaby Connection for all you do for our community. I must say our families are SO thrilled with the Books and layettes you are able to provide.
Families that might not otherwise be able to buy a new book
for their toddler, or a new outfit for the newborn to come
home from the hospital. We are so thankful for the groups
that are using their talents to hand make blanket and put
together layettes for our needy families. Some of our new
mommies are teenagers or are now finding themselves with the miracle of life while dealing with the stress of a house
foreclosures, or just no means to feed their family. They
are coming to us for resources and support and we will
provide this type of support but then when we are able to
place a layette of new clothing into their hands the
families are so very grateful!

Your support to our, grant-funded program, is so important
to us and our families.

Please thank your supporters for us would you? All the
volunteers that put the layettes together and the agencies
that provide supplies that make up the contents of the
layettes, as well as the New books that are donated for your
"Bonding by Books" program that we now have.

Thanks again to the many people
"Behind-the-Scenes" that make up the Lullaby
Connection a wonderful resource for our community.

Pam Rolfe
Community Infant Educator
Family To Family Connection
Lullaby Connection gathers items for needy babies

Clothing, strollers, car seats, diapers and other necessities are given to families or foster homes

By COREY LEVITAN
REVIEW-JOURNAL
The Lullaby Connection, a community outreach program getting baby necessities to the underprivileged, has opened its first office.
"There are babies out there who really need your help," says The Lullaby Connection Executive Director Darla Hayden, a former University Medical Center volunteer. "Five-hundred babies are born every month in the Las Vegas Valley with no provisions made for them. Some of them go home with their biological families, some go to foster care and some go to agencies like Child Haven.
"But all of them need something to get started in life."
Each month, The Lullaby Connection's eight volunteers provide new and gently used baby clothing, strollers, car seats and diapers to approximately 150 local families with newborns. (Since the nonprofit's 2001 inception, more than 7,000 of its layettes, or baby care packages, have gone to Southern Nevada social-service agencies.)
"Previously, we operated out of my garage," says Hayden, a stay-at-home mom and University of Phoenix student. "We kind of outgrew that and we've been looking for an opportunity to spread our wings."
The Lullaby Connection's office -- at 769 Middlegate St. in Henderson -- was donated by Clark County Wholesale, an automotive parts company owned by Hayden's husband, Mike.
"He bought a new building and really didn't need all the room," Hayden says.
The 6,000-square-foot warehouse also features a community room available to other charities needing space. (Currently, Spread the Word Nevada, the nonprofit literacy group, uses it on Monday nights to clean and prepare books to distribute to school reading programs.)
The Lullaby Connection is accepting donations of baby items from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, and at other times by appointment. Recipients must be referred by one of the following organizations: Child Haven, Family to Family, or the Clark County Health District.
For more information, call 521-1061 or go to www.lullabyconnection.org.

Originally Printed in: The Review Journal on Apr 2,2006
http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/2006/Apr-02-Sun-2006/living/6431900.html
